Top 10+ Filmmaking & Photography Accessories!

tHUMBNAIL.jpg

Photography & film making is not always about having the best gear, but sometimes having the right accessories can make your life a lot easier when you are filming or photographing a subject! When I first started, I did not have any of these accessories and as a matter of fact, I only recently been acquiring many of the gear listed down below! As always, you can rent gear out if you have a special photography or film making shoot!

Extra Batteries!

It’s always a good idea to have extra batteries on hand, as well as a charger to ensure you can keep recording your videos or capturing photographs without having to stop and wait for a single battery to charge up!

Lexar 128GB V60 SD Card

Ensuring you have enough storage to record your videos & capture your photographs is important! You never want to run out of storage in the middle of shooting and video and have to go and offload your files. A 128GB V60 SD Card is a great storage size in 2021, especially with new 4k & 8k recording capabilities available that require the most amount of storage & write speed. V60 means this SD card is rated to write at a MINIMUM of at least 60mb/s, which is perfect for 4k recording.

Urth x Gobe Filter Set

Having filters is so important and what better way to ensure you have all the right essential filters is by checking out the Urth x Gobe Lens Filter Kit! Available in multiple different filter sizes, the filter kit comes with UV Plus+, Circular Polarizing Filter, an ND8 Plus+ (3 Stop) and ND1000 Plus+ (10 Stop).

Screen Protector

Protect your LCD screen with a screen protector! You never want to scratch up your camera’s built-in screen or else you’ll have a bad time reviewing your photographs & footage on the go!

Soft Release Button

Popular with rangefinder cameras like the Fujifilm X-series, Nikon Df and Lecia M-series, a soft release button gives you better control over the action of pressing the shutter release button. The soft release button softens any disturbance you might get when pressing the shutter release button. This can be a problem when you’re using your camera that is not entirely locked down and requires a long-shutter speed.

FOTGA Rocket Air Blower

Keep your camera clean with a rocket blower to ensure dust is far away from your gear! A rocket air blower is perfect for gently removing dust and erasing smudges from delicate surfaces. Use this air blower to clean your lens, camera, camera’s sensor, filters, musical instruments and many more!

Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap

Don’t drop your camera by accident! Peak Design has created a unique camera cuff strap with a quick release. The cuff camera wrist strap works with a variety of cameras that allow you to put a strap through.

Camera Bag

Keep your camera body and camera lenses safe with a camera bag! A camera bag not only protects your camera from improper storage, but also it allows you to carry your camera gear with you no matter where you go. Traveling with your camera is one of the most popular activity that people do to capture their moments!

Travel Tripod

Having a tripod is one of the most essential photography/film making gear. What’s even more important is that if you’re always traveling with your gear and want to bring a tripod with you… you’ll want to make sure that it is light and compact! The Manfrotto Travel Befree tripod solves many issues that travel tripods have tried in the past.

Diffuser & Reflector

A reflector and diffuser are helpful tools to have when you want to have a bit of control over your lighting conditions, especially with natural lighting, where it's up to the weather! A diffuser softens harsh lighting and a reflector helps bounce light onto your subject.

Shotgun Microphone & Aux Cable

If you are filming any video or motion picture, it is so crucial to have good audio! Your audience will not care about how pretty and beautiful your footage is if the audio is terrible. Audio and visuals are both two important factors in ensuring your audience and your content is engaging.

Boom Stand

Unless you have a friend to constantly boom a shotgun microphone over you while you’re recording… you’ll probably want a microphone stand to help you out when your friend is not there! A lightweight and sturdy boom microphone stand is the essential!
