Hasselblad Strap for Hasselblad 500CM Medium Format Camera - Peak Design Slide Camera Strap
INTRODUCTION
For my recent vacation trip, I wanted to bring my Hasselblad 500CM along with me. However, I needed a camera strap for the Hasselblad 500cm that was comfortable, adjustable, flexible and ideally affordable for these trips as my shooting style depended on being run and gun on the go.
In the past, I have been a huge fan of the Peak Design camera straps that many of my photography colleagues swear by for their comfort, flexibility, adjustability, and price point. Amazingly, they come in different sizes/thicknesses depending on your camera’s weight, the Leash, Slide Lite, and Slide.
I found the Peak Design Slide Lite camera strap to be the sweet spot for my personal preference of comfort with the thickness and material of the strap, while also maintaining a stable and safe carrying experience with my Hasselblad 500cm’s weight on the go.
HASSELBLAD LUG STRAP ADAPTERS
The Hasselblad camera body has lug strap attachment points on either side that allow you to attach a camera strap or use your own with lug strap adapters. Lug strap adapters are available online to attach your custom camera strap to your Hasselblad camera body.
The Hasselblad lug strap adapters I found to work best were the eTone Silver Small Lug Strap Adapters for Hasselblad medium format cameras. The eTone Lug Strap Adapters work flawlessly with the included Peak Design Anchor Links that fit snugly and securely.
CONNECTING IT TOGETHER
To put everything together, take each Anchor Links’ end and thread it through the opening of the Lug Strap Adapters.
Wrap the Anchor Link around the entirety of the Lug Strap Adapters, ensuring that it fully behind the two metal sidings and pulled tightly through.
Slide the Anchor Links into the receivers on the Peak Design Slide Lite Strap.
Adjust the length to your liking.
PEAK DESIGN SLIDE LITE & ANCHOR LINKS
The Peak Design Slide Lite comes with two Peak Design Anchor Links Strap Connectors and two spare replacements. What’s great with the newly re-designed Peak Design Anchor Links is they provide a secure connection allowing a total carrying capacity of 200lbs (90kg), more than capable of carrying your Hasselblad setup.
The Anchor Links also features a new slim smaller footprint design that allows for one-handed connection for quick flexibility of popping in your camera strap or taking it off in seconds—no more hassle in messing with traditional strap connection designs.
When combined with the Peak Design Slide Lite, the Anchor Links allow for easy reconfiguration of the strap to carry it either as a sling, neck, or shoulder strap whenever I like it. The smooth webbing material glides with ease over clothing for a comfortable carrying experience all day long. Perhaps the best feature of the strap is the highly adjustable two quick pull adjusters on the strap that provide a hassle-free experience in quickly and smoothly adjusting the length of the strap to your desired carrying length when I need flexibility quick on the run.
CONCLUSION
At first, I was skeptical at how well the the Peak Design Anchor Links would hold up over time, but so far in the past 6 months that I have used them on my Hasselblad 500cm, I have not noticed any wear from the heavy usage they’ve had with the Peak Design Slide Lite on all my travels and shoots with the camera. The smooth webbing material provides comfort that is unparalleled to any other strap material, as well as flexibility with the two quick adjusters for length adjustment. No questions asked why Peak Design Straps and Anchor Links are trusted by thousands of photographers and content creators across the world as one of the most popular strap attachment systems for secure and flexible strap connections.
